Carpooling
Participants in the carpooling scheme are not interested in owning a car, a second car or a company car. They simply want to have a suitable car at hand when and where they need it.
And this is how it works:
At first you choose the car from the vehicle fleet that best fits your needs for the trip. Pick-up points are mostly situated within easy reach from where you live. Reservations can be made spontaneously or in advance, 24 hours a day, by telephone or via the internet. In general, the car keys for the booked car can be retrieved from a key safe installed at the pick-up point or, more recently, the car is electronically secured and can be opened by means of an electronic card. After the trip, the car is simply returned and parked at the original pick-up point. Many carsharing operators have their vehicles equipped with electronic access systems and log books, which makes the use of carsharing even more comfortable for the users. Once a month, the users are sent an invoice with details on the cost of each individual trip.
