Current and reliable traffic information for Berlin helps residents and visitors to the city in reaching their destination faster, easier and more safely. VMZ Berlin Betreibergesellschaft provides free information services on the current road traffic situation and on any other means of transport.
Whether you are a road user or travelling by public transport (underground, regional railway, tramways, busses), our web based services will help you to determine the best form of transport, the fastest route, or indicate nearby parking facilities. Individualised mobile services deliver up-to-the-minute information on traffic congestion and disturbances on your daily route. Our traffic forecasts tell you when and where heavy traffic is to be expected and thus help you to avoid unnecessarily long travel times.
If you are already on the road, dynamic roadside information panels tell you what the traffic ahead is going to be like. In close cooperation with the traffic reporters of Radio Berlin 88,8, we inform motorists about congestions, road works and other bottle necks to make everyone’s journey quick and safe.
By combining our data with the information provided by the Berlin public transport services BVG and S-Bahn, you're just one click away from all the information you need on public transport as well as on flight traffic at Berlin airports.
In order to provide these services, we gather all types of mobility data and information for Berlin. We operate a state-of-the-art sensor network which delivers data on traffic load and actual speed at approx. 300 locations in the main road network. Combined with the data from the traffic detectors installed by the Land Berlin, a comprehensive, real-time picture of the traffic situation is generated every 5 minutes. Information provided by the police, the local authorities and the Berlin public transport services are gathered and published in Berlin’s most comprehensive online mobility service.
The free traffic information services of VMZ are made possible by a new type of cooperation between public and private partners. The initial investment costs for the setup of VMZ were financed by the Senate Department for Urban Development of Berlin, whilst VMZ is responsible for the continued operation and further development of the traffic management system.
We wish you a safe and pleasant trip in Berlin!
